Tourists who visited Maldives this March have increased by 22% compared to the number of tourists who visited the country in the March of 2018.
Statistics from the Ministry of Tourism and Maldives Immigration records that a total of 162,843 tourists have visited Maldives last month alone, making the number of tourists who visited Maldives this year to 482,978, an increase of 15% compared to last year.
The majority of tourists hail from countries within Europe, with 55.8% of all tourist nationalities. A 13% increase compared to last year with 269,619 tourists for the year, and 92,474 tourists last month alone. Tourists from Asia Pacific trails in second with 35.3% and USA with 5.3%.
The total of estimated of 3,010,496 bed-nights in resorts, hotels, guest houses and safaris in Maldives enjoyed an occupancy rate of 75.2% this year.
