Next week’s Sunday (the 5th of May) has been declared a holiday by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
The spokesperson for President’s Office, Mr. Ibrahim Hood tweeted today stating President Solih’s decision to declare Sunday as a government holiday to allow people time to prepare for the month of Ramadan.
On Saturday night the Islamic Ministry will give their pronouncement on the moon-sighting. If the moon is sighted that night, the following day (Sunday) will be declared as the first of Ramadan, if not, Monday will be the first of the holy month.
As per the Islamic Calendar, the first of Ramadan is this Monday (6th May) and has been declared a holiday as well.
