Two picnic islands to be reclaimed for locals in Galufalhu Lagoon

Maldives Intergrated Tourism Development Corporation has confirmed that they will be starting the planning for the reclamation and development of two artificial islands in Galufalhu Lagoon to be dedicated for the recreational use of the locals.

IMTDC’s Managing Director, Mohamed Shahid has stated that they will be spending approximately 50 Million rufiya for the reclamation and development of the two islands. He also stated that they will be developing 7 hectares of land needed for the two islands. He also stated that the reclamation work would take around a month, whereas, the entire project will be wrapped up in 6 months.

According to the company, the facilities that will be provided by the two islands include, daily rent rooms, water sports, restaurant services and also bbq services which is provided at a discounted rate for locals. The islands are stated to be located around 15 mins away in a boat ride.
