Opposition party, People’s National Congress (PNC) has elected PPM’s former PG leader Ahmed Nihan, PPM’s former Secretary General Mohamed Hussain Shareef, the newly joined MP elect for Baarashu constituency Ibrahim Shujau and the former Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed as the party’s vice presidents this Friday.
Five competed for the four available vice presidency seats, after an amendment to their charter to add an extra two to the two seats in the current charter during the party’s first ever congress held in Billabong International School.
PNC’s newly elected vice presidents;
Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik: 126 votes
Mohamed Hussain Shareef: 122 votes
Ibrahim Shujau: 122 votes
Mohamed Saeed: 120 votes
Mohamed Nimal, the former managing director of Fenaka Corporation who lost the polling, received only 39 votes.
