President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has presented the credential certificates to the newly appointed ambassadors for China and Saudi Arabia.
Maafannu Beenaafushi, Aishath Azima has been appointed as the ambassador of Maldives to China and Galolhu Uthurugeaage, Mohamed Haleel has been appointed as the ambassador of Maldives to Saudi Arabia. Their letters of credence were presented to them by the president in a credential ceremony held Sunday afternoon at the president’s office.
Aishath Azima, after the parliament permitted to appoint her as the ambassador in February, will be replacing Mohomad Faisal who was previously holding this position. She has been working for multiple government institutions and ministries since 1988 and was formerly working as the deputy ambassador of Maldives to London, United Kingdom. She has also served as the secretary and as a joint secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The newly appointed ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mohamed Haleel had previously been holding the position of the High Commissioner of Maldives to Singapore. Haleel has achieved a diploma in environmental law and policies.
