MACL reveals that Velaana International Airport is nearing completion of the new seaplane terminal being built at the facility.
They stated that all structural work along with the mounting of the escalators in the terminal has been completed with many other minor works being completed along this time. This also includes the seaplane dock, and air-conditioning systems being completed with only the plumbing remaining.
Work was started in January with operations expected to start by September according to the General Manager of Infrastructure Mohammed Solah.
The new terminal is 14000 square feet in area and the engineering and construction work is carried out by a Chinese company.
