Government Earns MVR 287 Million from Customs in July

The government earned MVR 287 million from Maldives Customs Service last month.

According to statistics published by Customs, this is an increase of 2% compared to the MVR 281 million they made in July 2018.

However, the statistics revealed that the Cost, Insurance and Freight (CIF) for the goods imported into the country has decreased by 9% and the good imported decreased to MVR 3.7 compared to the same period last year.

In addition to this, the statistic showed that 21% of the god imported were from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), 13% was from Singapore and China and 11% came from India. While 18% of all export revenue came from Thailand.

The Free on Board (FOB) for the goods exported out of the country has also decreased by 16% from MVR 196 million to MVR 165 million.
