Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid visits Beijing, China upon the invitation of State Councillor and Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi on Tuesday.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel, Foreign Secretary Dr Ali Naseer Mohamed, Director of Communications Miuvaan Mohamed and Assistant Director Maryam Bassama Farooq accompanied Minister Shahid on this two-day trip.

Minister Shahid is scheduled to call on Minister Wang Yi and Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan to discuss the enhancement of bilateral relations between China and Maldives during his visit.

In addition to this, he will also be meeting with the Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) D. J Pandian and President of Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG) Li Daosong.

This is Minister Shahid’s first official visit to the China since assuming office in 2018.
