Maldives Police Service has asked the Ministry of Science and Technology to block Facebook page “Juhaa” on the grounds that it mocks Islam.
State Minister fore Science and Technology Ali Solih said Facebook page “Juhaa”, named after a Maldives folklore legend, will be blocked soon.
“We will not let anyone mock Islam and spread hatred and disunity amongst our people. We will block pages such as this one,” Solih said.
Meanwhile the police are searching for the person responsible for running the page Juhaa. In a letter sent to Ministry of Science, the police said they are on actively trying to find out the admin of the page.
The police arrested a Maldivian atheist earlier this month after he publicly mocked Islam. He was arrested from Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Thinadhoo.
