Gulf Air launches operations to Maldives

Gulf Air, the national airline of Bahrain, has begun operating in the Maldives.

Sunday, at Velana International Airport Sunday, a ceremony was held to welcome the airline, attended by CEO of Gulf Air Krešimir Kučko, senior officials of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), Maldivian airline ticketing agent Villa Air, and state tourism promotion company MMPRC.

Abdul Rahman Mohamed al Gawd, Ambassador of Bahrain to the Maldives, declared at the Maldives Partnership Forum earlier this year the intentions of the airlines to begin operations in the Maldives.

Krešimir Kučko, CEO of Gulf Air, said the airline intended to start operating to new destinations by adding more aircraft to their fleet. It’s a great happiness to commence flights to popular destinations such as the Maldives, he said.

During the peak tourism season, Gulf Air will operate four weekly flights to the Maldives. In 28 countries, they are currently flying to over 50 destinations.
