Regional allies; Maldives and India exchanged agreements on the launch of four key projects.
The projects will launch on 04 December, Wednesday according to the President’s Office.
According to the head of state’s office, Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the projects.
The project launching ceremony was broadcast live via video conference on Wednesday afternoon.
According President’s Office, the projects include gifting of in-shore patrol vessel CGS ‘Kaamiyaabu’ from Indian government to Maldives National Defense Force’s (MNDF) Coast Guard division.
In addition, agreements were exchanged over High Impact Community Development Projects which would see “undertakings targeting socio-economic development and improvement of public welfare.”
As such, this includes the launch of neighborhood fish processing plant developments in three locations of Addu City.
Moreover, the two regional allies exchanged agreement for the use of RuPay Card in Maldives.
In addition to this, Indian government had gifted LED streetlights for Male’ City.
This comes as a collaborative effort in pushing for energy efficiency and use of renewable energy.
Both state dignitaries delivered associative remarks following the agreement exchange that was simulcasted live.
Meanwhile, this marks the first time ever for Maldives to exchange bilateral agreements with another nation via video conferencing.
