Ban on Vehicular Traffic Imposed by the Government from 8pm to 5am

A temporary ban on vehicular traffic has been imposed in the Greater Male’ region from 8pm to 5am starting tomorrow.

In a press conference at the Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) Chief Superintendent of Police Abdulla Shareef made the announcement stating that the decision was made to a precautionary measure to spot the spread of the virus.

He also stated that people driving vehicles during the stated timings would be first reprimanded, and any further violations would be met with a fine, and the vehicles would be towed as an additional measure to respond to repeated violations.

The fine for the violation of the ban is MVR 1,000.
