The Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) sends its top official Saba Karim and India ‘A’ fielding coach Abhay Sharma to the Maldives to help improve cricket in the island nation.
According to an official from Ministry of Youth and Sports, this visit was initiated by President Ibrahim Solih during his last visit to India. During the many discussions, he had with BCCI, talks about ways on improving cricket as a sport in the Maldives was highlighted. As a result, this visit was arranged by the BCCI to evaluate and facilitate the Maldives Cricket Association with the necessary resources to help enhance the sport.
President Ibrahim Solih visited India on the 21st of April as a special guest of the BCCI. During his visit, the president spectated an Indian Premier League cricket match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings, where he was gifted a signed cricket bat by the current captain of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kolhi and former captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
