On Wednesday 9th October, First Lady Fazna Ahmed attended the closing ceremony of the Mental Health Ambassador training programme. This programme was jointly conducted by the Society for Health Education ( SHE ) and the Maldives National University ( MNU )’s School of Nursing.
The motive of the 10-day programme was to establish Mental Well-being ambassadors and was facilitated by counsellors from SHE. 18 student nurses received certificates from the First Lady, during the ceremony.
Mental health and well-being, mental illnesses, trauma, violence and its effect on vulnerable groups including children, coping mechanisms, emotional well-being and resilience were some featured topics covered in the programme.
The programme was included among the series of events hosted to celebrate World Mental Health Day 2019.
