India provides funding for the installation of streetlights in Kolhufushi

MVR 1.5 million has been granted by the Indian government to establish street lights in Meemu Kolhufushi.

Foreign Ministry said it is crucial to develop a proper street light network on the island to provide the Kolhufushi people with a safe environment. Under the project, 115 street lights will be installed in Kolhufushi residential areas.

The grant support was given to the Maldives by India’s aid scheme decided upon during the March 2019 visit of India’s former Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swarej. The purpose of the grant assistance is to carry out socio-economic development initiatives across the country.
