June 18th marked the first time the Maldives implemented the IMF Data Dissemination system or e-GDDS.
An IMF mission visited the country to aid with the introduction and implementation of the system and congratulated the country on the successful implementation and launch of the service.
The IMF Executive Board established the e-GDDS system in May 2015 to assist participating countries to improve data transparency and releasing data for effective economic policymaking. This also enables domestic and international stakeholders, including investors and rating agencies to gain critical economic information about the country as well.
