MTCC is in talks with the government to get an island allocation promised by the government to develop a tourist resort, with regards to the Zone 3 transportation development program.
Transportation is the main factor contributing to the company’s declining revenues. This was evident from last year’s loss of nearly MVR 82 million. The CEO of the company explained this further at last night’s annual general meeting.
He stated that the only profitable transportation service is the Male’ City metro bus service and Male’-Thilafushi ferry service. He further added that he has personally discussed with the Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Finance to help subsidize the transport service they provide.
MTCC’s various transportation services are operated all across the country except for 2 regions. This also includes the ferry services in the capital and Hulhumaale along with services all across the country.
