Parliament to vote on appointing Azmiralda and Shujoon to Supreme Court on Tuesday

The Parliament is scheduled to make its decision regarding appointing Dr Azmiralda Zahir and Aisha Shujoon to the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

Last week the Judiciary Committee showed support for President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s decision to nominate Azmiralda and Shujoon to the Supreme Court.

During the parliament session on Tuesday, the committee will present its recommendations after which the Parliament will engage in debate, and take a vote over the appointment.

While Azmiralda had previously served as a High Court judge, Shujoon had previously served as a Civil Court judge.
