Fenaka Corporation was fined by MVR 600,000 over installing engines in five islands without prior authorisation by Environment Protection Agency (EPA).
The five projects took place in the islands of Thakandhoo in Haa Alif Atoll, Finey in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Henbadhoo and Maalhendhoo in Noonu Atoll, and Kendhoo in Baa Atoll over the past two years.
While Fenaka argued that they shared the details of the projects with EPA earlier this year, EPA had denied this and granted Fenaka a period of one month to settle the fine.
EPA also levied MVR 100,000 fines on the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, and Male’ Water and Sewerage Company over illegally drawing up groundwater in capital Male’ City last year.
