Mohamed Jameel Mosque Opens for Ramadan

Mohamed Jameel Mosque, commonly known as ‘Fai Fohey Miski’ located at Lainoofaru Magu, Maafannu has opened after renovations for Ramadan.

The mosque was inaugurated after Asr prayer which was led by Islamic Minister, Dr Ahmed Zahir who was the guest of honor as well. The ceremony concluded with a tour of the mosque.

Renovations to the mosque which can now accommodate 1300 people, included adding four storeys, and a multi-purpose hall that will be used to host lectures and quran lessons.

The mosque is named after one of the most famous Islamic scholars of Maldives, Sheikh Mohamed Jameel Didi, who spent more than 45 years providing his services to the nation to improve the Dhivehi language and to spread Islamic knowledge.
