8 Million Rufiyaa Provided By India For Ice Plants

India has provided 8 million rufiyaa to the Maldivian government to build ice plants in two Maldivian islands.

It has been reported that two ice plants weighing about 25 metric tons will be provided to two richest islands for fishing in the Maldives. According to a statement released by the foreign ministry, this scheme introduces measures to reduce wastage of dishes either due to being rotten or being grown back overboard. The fisherman will also be undergoing special training under the scheme.

The Indian government has financially aided the Maldives on separate occasions. A 7.8 million rufiyaa was provided to build a convention centre in A.A Ukulhas along with 7 million rufiyaa to a special police training school to buy equipment/projectors at another time.

On an official visit to the Maldives on March 17 to 18, the former minister of India Sushma Swaraj, made an agreement with the Maldives government to aid the Maldives with MVR 100 million.
