A Bill to Increase The Disability Allowance Introduced to The Parliament

The bill to increase the government allowance for the disabled was introduced to the parliament by Dhangethi MP, Mohamed Naazim.

According to Naazim, it is a responsibility of the government to take care of disabled citizens who are unable to make a living and take care of themselves. Therefore changes need to be implemented in the existing law regarding their monthly allowance.

The bill states that disabled citizens are allowed between MVR 5000 and MVR 7000 depending on their conditions and how it affects their earnings. Those who are bedridden are allowed up to MVR 9000. It also includes the need to have a database to keep their information up to date.

The first-floor action regarding the bill was carried out today.
