5th Tourism Master Plan to be Inaugurated

5th Tourism Master Plan to be inaugurated on Monday during a special event held at Dharubaaruge.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih alongside with former president Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom and former president and current Speaker of the parliament Mohamed Nasheed is scheduled to speak at the event.

Moreover, senior officials of the tourism sector will also be taking part in the event.

During the ceremony registry of all employees working in the tourism sector, a special application programmed to ease the submission of complaints to the Tourism Ministry, and ‘Beach Scouts’ being established for the safety and protection of tourists will be introduced to the market.

The previous tourism Master Plan was inaugurated in 2013 during the presidency of Yameen Abdul Gayyoom and focused on the construction of infrastructure specific to the tourism industry, and choosing special zones for tourism development. This resulted in construction several infrastructures with over 45,000 tourist beds currently being operated in the Maldives.
