Government Issues Plots to Establish Sri Lanka and Bangladesh Embassies in Hulhumale’

The Maldivian government issued two land plots from the ‘Diplomatic Enclave’ in reclaimed suburb Hulhumale’, to establish the embassies of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision came after Sri Lanka and Bangladesh released land plots to establish the Maldivian embassies in their respective lands.

Earlier this month the Maldives issued a plot from the Diplomatic Enclave to India where the foundation stones of the Indian Embassy’s Chancery Building were laid by Minister of External Affairs of India, Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

To ensure higher security for foreign diplomats the government decided to develop all foreign embassies and consulates within a single area in Hulhumale’ called the Diplomatic Enclave.

The government is yet to disclose details of the land plots issued.
