MTCC Replaces Plastic Sea Sickness Bags with Paper Bags

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) replaces plastic seasickness bags with paper bags.

MTCC’s official tweeter page states “We are very proud to reduce single-use plastic onboard our ferries, and we look forward to continuing this important approach to ensure we do what we can to help protect the environment”.

It has been estimated that on an average 26,000 passengers commute of MTCC’s ferries each day -making for approximately 9.5 million passengers per year. Hence this small step by the company is expected to reduce the amount of plastic thrown into the sea by ferry passengers greatly.

In addition to this, MTCC has recently banned single-use plastics at its ferry terminals and is currently running a campaign to replace paper tickets with special tokens.
