Ambassador to Saudi Arabia presents credentials to King Salman

Mohamed Khaleel, the new ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, delivered his Letter of Credence to King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, at a ceremony in Riyadh on Wednesday.

Upon the presentation of the credentials, Ambassador Khaleel had an audience with King Salman and expressed the gratitude of President Solih for the strong leadership of the King in fostering solidarity in the Islamic Ummah, the Foreign Ministry stated. King Salman greeted Ambassador Khaleel and presented President Solih with greetings. Ambassadors Kaleel reiterated the Maldives government’s keen interest in further enhancing the Maldives-Saudi Arabia fraternal relations, the ministry informed.

Last June, the parliament approved the appointment of Khaleel as Saudi Arabia’s ambassador. While presenting his credentials to King Salman, President Solih sent the name of Khaleel to Parliament earlier this month to appoint him to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as the Maldivian representative.
