Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India is to be conferred “The Most Honourable Order of the Distinguished Rule of Nishan Izzuddeen, which is the highest honour accorded to foreign dignitaries by the Maldives, upon his visit.
The Foreign Minister of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid tweeted: “President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced his decision to confer on PM of India H.E. Narendra Modi the Maldives the highest honour accorded to foreign dignitaries, ‘The Most Honourable Order of the Distinguished Rule of Nishan Izzuddeen’ during PM’s visit today.”
According to Article 115 of the constitution, the president has the power to award trophies or medal to deserving individuals and accord honours to dignitaries.
