Dhivehi Language Academy is in talks with Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) to sign an MoU to promote and digitalise Dhivehi Language.
During the visit to Pakistan this Friday, the delegation, led by Dhivehi Language Academy President Ashraf Ali proposed the MoU and highlighted the work done by the academy and the Maldivian government to further develop the language by making it more digitally accessible through the use of modern technology. He also requested cooperation from Pakistani institutions and universities to realize this goal.
The MoU terms the promotion of the language, the literature of both countries through the translation of literary books, holding seminars and exchange of writer delegations to each other country.
The visit also included meetings with the Pakistani National Language Promotion Department Director-General Iftikhar Arif, National Book Foundation Managing Director Dr Inamul Haq Javeid, PAL Director-General Dr Rashid Hameed along with other writers and scholars as well.
The signing of the MoU would strengthen the relationship between the two SAARC countries, particularly in the field of literature.
