Imports and Exports Declines in June

According to the Maldives Customs Service’s statistics, there has been a decline imported and exported by the Maldives in June 2019.

The statistic shows there has been a decrease in imported good by 5% in the month of June 2019 compared to June 2018. Last year it was recorded that goods worth MVR 3.5 million was imported, while only MVR 3.3 million worth was goods were imported this year.

Similarly, exports have decreased in the month of June compared to the same period last year. MVR 113 million worth good were exported last year and it decreased by 7% this year making the total exported amount  MVR 104 million in the month of June 2019.

However, The state generated an income of MVR 266 million which is an increase of 13% from the MVR 235 million income generated during the same period last year.

The statistics also show that 19% of goods imported in June were brought from China and UAE, while 42% of exports were to Germany.
