JSC to prosecute judges allegedly part of MMPRC graft

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has revealed that the commission will investigate the judges allegedly involved in the MMPRC graft.

During their 73rd meeting on Wednesday, the judicial watchdog made the decision to investigate the suspected judges.

At the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee earlier this week, Prosecutor General Aishath Bisham disclosed that cabinet ministers, judges, and members of parliament were complicit in the MMPRC corruption.

In announcing their decision to investigate the judges, JSC said they had requested the competent authorities to share with the commission the details about the judges implicated and the proof against the judges.

The formal audit report on the MMPRC scam reported that the state tourism promotion agency, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) embezzled over US$ 79 million. Numerous government officials are said to be engaged in corruption from both the previous and current administration.
