Friday Mosque has reopened to the public today after undergoing renovations.
The mosque was closed down last year due infestation of termites, and due to considerable damage caused by the termites the mosque was deemed unsafe for daily prayers.
The Friday Mosque goes three centuries back and is a significant pillar in the country’s history. The mosque is present in the UNESCO’s Temporary List of World Heritage sites with work underway by the Heritage Ministry to add the mosque to the permeant list of such sites.
