Maldives Reform Movement (MRM), founded by former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom submits 3,313 membership forms to Elections Commission (EC) in its bid to register as a political party.
Permit to establish MRM was originally issued to Higher Education Minister Dr Ibrahim Hassan, however, it was cancelled as they were unable to submit the required minimum membership forms of 3000 within the three month period allowed after issuing the permit to become a political party.
Later the permit was taken under the name of Maumoon’s daughter and Arts, Culture and Heritage Minister Yumna Maumoon.
